  • Field first-aid of a traffic accident

Right rescue carried through on the spot could play the most important role in reducing the disabilities or casualties of accident victims. 2. Heart-lung resuscitation: when the breath and the heartbeat just stop, the wounded must receive heart-lung resuscitation timely so as to save their lives. If the rescue can be carried through in 4 minutes, the survival rate would be the highest. The procedures of heart and lung resuscitations on the spot are as follows: (1) Firstly, keep the respiratory tract unblocked, open the mouth of the wounded, and then cleanse the foreign matter in the oral cavity so as to keep the oral cavity and the respiratory tract clear; (2) Secondly, keep the wounded breathing, check up the wounded to see whether he/she still breathes or not. If the wounded doesn’t breathe any more, the measure of mouth-to-mouth breathing could be adopted at once, and one exhale per 3 or 4 seconds.; (3) Thirdly, restore blood circulation. To those wounded whose hearts stop beating suddenly, the method of heart resuscitation must be adopted at once. The rescue workers should grasp the cooperative right posture of both hands in pressing the heart on chest and the press actions, which is to press the heart rhythmically. 3. Control the severe bleeding: a man who reaches the weight of 50 kgs. has a blood quantity of 4,000 mls.. When one loses blood over 1500 mls., it will cause the brain not provided with enough blood, and lead to make the wounded muddle-headed, thirsty, dizzy, and even stuporous. The haemostasis of external haemorrhage includes: (1) Method of pressurizing directly. Pressurize the wound directly with the palms or fingers, and keep pressurizing for over 15 minutes. (2) Method of lifting high. Lift the bleeding limbs of the wounded over the heart place so as to decrease the circulation of blood of the bleeding parts. If the condition permits, apply a piece of aseptic gauze or clean clothing to strap up. (3) Haemostasis of pressurizing. When there is a severe bleeding in the four limbs, one can pressurize the vital artery. 4. Move the wounded: when an accidental injury occurs, it is recommended to move the heavily wounded after checking and handling the conditions of the injury preliminarily. The moving methods should be made according to the conditions of the injury and constitution, the moving distance and the road conditions. Main methods include: method of carrying on one’s back, method of holding or carrying in the arms, method of supporting and method of holding up in the four palms of two people.
